A Complete Guide to Ovipositor Play

Ovipositor play (or oviposition play) involves one partner using a phallic toy to insert bodysafe toy eggs into their partner, in a simulation of an alien, animal or insect impregnating its prey.

It’s… undeniably a niche sexual activity. But more people are into it than you might think.

Why do people enjoy ovipositor play?

There are many reasons – but one of the most often-cited ones it that they like the way it feels. The insertion of eggs creates a sensation of fullness or stretching that can be both challenging and arousing. And the sensation of eggs melting inside the body and oozing out (or being expelled while still intact) is a messy, sloppy, enjoyable feeling.

There’s also a roleplay aspect to a lot of ovipositor play. Someone who enjoys receiving might like to imagine themselves as the helpless victim of a bizarre alien creature intent on breeding with them, or as a subject in an unethical scientific experiment.

Ovipositor play pushes the buttons of people who are into impregnation and breeding fantasies, as well as those who like alien abduction, predator/prey and medical roleplays.

Even if these are not your specific fetishes, experimenting with ovipositor play can be a novel experience. You might find it messy, freeing, absurd or enjoyable even if you don’t necessarily find it directly arousing.

Where to buy an ovipositor dildo

Ovipositor dildos generally come in two types. One is a hollow tube into which eggs can be inserted from the base and pushed all the way through into the receiver.

The other type is a standard dildo with a holder for a single egg at the end, to allow one egg at a time to be inserted deep into the receiver.

Here’s a little about each to help you decide which interests you the most.

Hollow tube ovipositor dildos

This kind of ovipositor allows for the insertion of multiple eggs. Eggs can be fed into the dildo through the base and squeezed by hand or pushed using a silicone stick up into the receiver. It works well with both gelatine and silicone eggs.

On the downside, this kind of ovipositor is difficult to clean, and also less widely available. They’re mostly made by smaller specialist companies, and may cost more than you’d expect.

For a good quality hollow tube ovipositor dildo, I’d recommend Bad Dragon – a company that makes an extensive range of monster-themed novelty dildos.

Bad Dragon’s ovipositor dildo can be customised with whatever colours you desire. You can also purchase a kit which comes with lube, an egg mould, and a plunger to push eggs through your dildo.

Alternatively, there’s Nothosaur, who make a range of alien and fantasy dildos, including several hollow tube ovipositors.

I’d recommend their Zerger model, which is sleeker than some other dildos in their range, and has an attractive monster/alien aesthetic. Indeed, the design was inspired by the Alien film franchise!

Single egg inserter ovipositor dildos

This kind of ovipositor allows you to load one egg at a time into the tip of the toy for insertion into your partner. They really only work well with silicone eggs – indeed, they usually come with their own silicone eggs.

They’re more widely available, cheaper and easier to clean… but some people say they’re less fun, and they can’t be used anally.

The Implantor Alien Egg-Layer Monster Dildo is a fairly large number, and girthy too – a thick textured knot forms part of the design. If you don’t mind a little stretch, though, it’s an excellent silicone egg depositor.

Safe and fun ovipositor play

As always when inserting something artificial into the intimate body cavity of a loved one, there are some sensible precautions one should follow.

Use lube, go slow

An ovipositor dildo plus eggs will be on the larger size of things most people have had inserted into them. Start with the smallest size of eggs, go slowly to give the receiver time to adjust and report on what they’re feeling, and use lube on everything except the base of the dildo (you need at least one non-slippery bit to hold it by).

Lots of lube will help with insertion, and with the eggs sliding smoothly through a hollow tube ovipositor. It’ll also make them nice and gooey, which for many people adds to the fun.

Mind the ingredients of gelatine eggs

You should be generally cautious about what you put in your or your partner’s genitals. Unflavoured, uncoloured plain gelatine is generally pretty benign. However, many gelatine mixes include colours, flavours or other ingredients that can cause problems when inserted into intimate orifices.

Sugar, in particular, is to be avoided, as it can cause yeast infections.

Likewise some colourants and other additives can be irritant, or even trigger allergic reactions. Stick to the plainest ingredients possible when making eggs. If adding colouring, make sure it’s food-safe, sugar-free, and that the receiver isn’t allergic to any of the ingredients.

No anal insertion with silicone eggs

Inserting a silicone egg into the vagina is relatively risk-free. The vagina has a distinct end-point. With some effort you can retrieve most things that you put into the vagina. There’s no way that a silicone egg is going to get smushed so deep into the vagina that it becomes irretrievable and starts causing problems.

The arse, on the other hand, is the end on a long and continuous track through the body. Things inserted into the arse can get lost. In extremis they can travel way further back up the digestive tract that you intend, and cause an intestinal blockage. Each year, hundreds of people all over the world have to go to the emergency room to have stuff manually or surgically removed from their arse.

To that end, it’s a bad idea to insert silicone eggs into your arse. They can very easily become lost or stuck, and are difficult to retrieve. Gelatine eggs are better for anal insertion, as they’ll eventually liquefy with your body heat.

Some people recommend using anal beads instead of eggs if you want to experience something similar to silicone egg anal insertion.

Be cautious with vaginal insertion of silicone eggs

Inserting silicone eggs into your vagina is much safer than inserting them into your arse. But it is still possible to get a silicone egg lodged in your vagina.

Eggs are smooth and round, and thus quite difficult to retrieve if they do get lodged. Use them with caution. Gelatine eggs are much safer all round, as they melt with your body heat.

How to make ovipositor eggs

Here’s a simple recipe for making bodysafe, versatile gelatine ovipositor eggs. These can be used in any orifice, and will eventually melt with your body temperature – so no worries about getting them lodged.

They’re soft and squishy with some bounce. You can vary how rubbery vs jelly-like they are by playing with the amount of gelatine you use.

You will need

  • Water
  • Gelatine powder (plain, sugar-free, uncoloured)
  • Egg mould in your chosen size

Method

  • You can ascertain how much gelatine mixture you need to fill your mould by filling your mould with water and then dumping all that water out into a measuring jug.
  • Measure out about 10g of gelatine powder per 250ml of water (approx. 1 tablespoon per eight ounces of water for you imperial folk). This will make a quite firm egg. Add less gelatine powder if you want a softer or more squishable egg.
  • Sprinkle this gelatine powder into a small amount of cold water. Stir and let sit for a while. This is called “blooming” the gelatine.
  • Now heat up the remaining water. Take it off the heat as soon as it starts to steam. It shouldn’t be boiling, just very hot.
  • Stir the bloomed gelatine mixture into the hot water. Stir thoroughly. If you’re adding food-safe colouring, you should do so now.
  • Pour this mixture into your mould. Let it cool on the counter for a few minutes and then put it into the fridge for around four hours to let it set completely.
  • Once set, gently pop your eggs from the mould. They should be used as soon as possible.

Ovipositor roleplay scenarios

Here are some of the most common fantasy scenarios people enjoy when engaging in ovipositor play.

Alien impregnation

The most common fantasy relating to oviposition play is that of being the prey of an alien or monster that wishes to breed with you and lay its eggs in you.

Many ovipositor dildos are shaped with this kind of play in mind, with monstrous or alien-looking designs.

You can supplement this by using copious amounts of goopy lube in place of alien cum or amniotic fluid. Squirting dildos also work nicely with this kind of scenario, and you may with to investigate playing with wax or oil to bump up the levels of goopy, squishy fun.

Medical roleplay

Second only to the fantasy of being preyed on by a broody alien is the fantasy of being strapped down and subjected to a cruel and unusual sci-fi-tinged medical procedure.

For this you could consider cuffs or other medical-adjacent restraints, as well as mixing your play with some fun (and/or invasive) medical procedures.

Caught by a thrall

Ovipositor play scenarios often revolve around being helpless while you’re impregnated with eggs. In many fantasy scenarios, egg-laying monsters are able to hypnotise or otherwise freeze their prey before turning them into an egg-filled host body.

To simulate this in your play, consider investigating hypnosis or honour bondage, as well as looking at various consensual nonconsent scenarios.
